E: How was your arrival at Joventut and the acclimatization to Badalona and the league?

D: First of all, I want to thank you for taking the time to interview me. It is an honor and a pleasure to answer the questions you have for me. My arrival to Barcelona/Badalona was really smooth and easy. I remember when the technique director, David Garcia Casanova picked me up from the airport, we instantly became friends. He was so nice and made me feel really comfortable. I didn´t know what to expect in the beginning, but I was excited because I knew I was playing for a historic team with great players. I was ready to take on a new change with amazing players. The coaches, staff and players accepted me with open arms. It was a smooth acclamation. It was fun and we inmediately became a big family.

(E: ¿Cómo fue tu llegada al Joventut y la aclimatación a Badalona y a la liga?

D: Antes que nada, quiero agradeceros por tomaros este tiempo para entrevistarme. Es un honor y un placer responder las preguntas que teneís para mí. Os lo agradezco de corazón.

 Mi llegada a Barcelona / Badalona fue realmente fluida y fácil. Recuerdo que cuando el director técnico, David García Casanova, me recogió en el aeropuerto, nos hicimos amigos al instante. Él fue muy amable y me hizo sentir realmente cómodo. Al principio no sabía qué esperar, pero estaba emocionado porque sabía que estaba jugando para un equipo histórico con grandes jugadores. Estaba listo para asumir un nuevo cambio con jugadores increíbles. Los entrenadores, el personal y los jugadores me aceptaron con los brazos abiertos. Fue una aclamación suave. Fue divertido e inmediatamente nos convertimos en una gran familia.)

E: You have won a King´s Cup, an Uleb, many victories, epic achievements... What is the magical moment you have lived with Penya?

D: We were fortunate enough to win titles and accomplished every goals we set. The achievement of winning the Copa Del Rey was super special for me. Just the passion, the sacrifice and the hard work paid off. I mean, we beat 3 top ACB teams who where also top teams in Europe. It was special because nobody thought we could beat to teams we beat. There was fans all over Spain and the world who watched. NBA scouts watched as well as other top teams in Europe. To defeat the odds were incredible. I wish I can go back and replay the moment we beat Tau.

(E: Has ganado una Copa del Rey, una Uleb, muchas victorias, logros épicos ... ¿Cuál es el momento más mágico que has vivido con la Penya?

D: Tuvimos la suerte de ganar títulos y lograr todos los objetivos que nos habíamos establecido. El logro de ganar la Copa del Rey fue súper especial para mí. Solo la pasión, el sacrificio y el trabajo duro valieron la pena. Quiero decir, vencimos a los 3 mejores equipos de ACB que también fueron los mejores equipos de Europa. Fue especial porque nadie pensó que podíamos vencer a los equipos que vencimos. Hubo fans en toda España y el mundo que vieron la hazaña. Los cazatalentos de la NBA observaron tan bien como otros equipos importantes en Europa. Para vencer las probabilidades eran tan pequeñas, que fué increíble. Desearía poder volver y repetir el momento en el que vencimos al Tau.)

E: Best player you´ve ever played with? And the best friend you have made thanks to Penya?

D: I´ve played with many great players in Penya. Ricky Rubio was so special at a young age. Rudy Fernandez was also special. To play with future NBA players was amazing. To be part of their development and growth was truly a blessing for me. They were brothers and I am excited to have a small part of their journey. I knew they would become great basketball players as well as good people off the courts as well.

(E: ¿El mejor jugador con el que has jugado? ¿Y el mejor amigo que has hecho gracias a la Penya?

D: He jugado con muchos grandes jugadores en la Penya. Ricky Rubio fue super especial a una edad temprana. Rudy Fernández también fue especial. Jugar con futuros jugadores de la NBA fue increíble. Ser parte de su desarrollo y crecimiento fue realmente una bendición para mí. Eran hermanos y estoy emocionado de tener una pequeña parte de su viaje. Sabía que se convertirían en grandes jugadores de baloncesto y también en buenas personas fuera de las canchas.)

E: What is the player that has cost you the most to defend?

D: I´ve had to defend many great players in the ACB, but Juan Carlos Navarro was hard to guard. You had to pay special attention to him. You had to get a good night sleep before the game to be ready for him. He was a great scorer and moves great without the ball. He was always moving. You had to sleep good and eat good before you played against him lol (Risas).

(E: ¿Cuál es el jugador que más te ha costado defender?

D: He tenido que defender a muchos grandes jugadores en la ACB, pero fue dificilísimo parar a Juan Carlos Navarro. Tenías que prestarle especial atención. Tenías que dormir bien antes del partido para estar listo para él. Fue un gran anotador y se movía muy bien sin el balón. Estaba en continuo movimiento. Tenías que dormir bien y comer bien antes de jugar contra él lol (Risas).

)E: You are an idol for us, the people of Badalona... What do you think about us, the fans? You follow the current games of Joventut?

D: Penya is home for me. Being able to be an idol and inspiration to fan and young players was an honor for me. Penya fans made me feel at home. They made comfortable. They made we want to win more and play harder in the games. They brought the best out of me so I took it personal to play the best basketball I could. Penya fans are for me one of the best in the world. They are loyal and they support you through good times and bad times. They will always have a special place in my heart. I still follow all the games and talk to many of the players that play today.

(E: Eres un ídolo para nosotros, la gente de Badalona ... ¿Qué piensas de nosotros, tu afición? ¿Sigues los partidos actuales del Joventut?

D: La Penya es mi hogar. Poder ser un ídolo e inspiración para los fans y jugadores jóvenes fue un honor para mí. Los fans de la Penya me hicieron sentir como en casa. Se me hizo muy cómodo. Nos hicieron querer ganar más y jugar más duro en los juegos. Sacaron lo mejor de mí, así que lo tomé como algo personal para jugar el mejor baloncesto que pude. Los fans de Penya son para mí uno de los mejores del mundo. Son leales y te apoyan en los buenos y malos momentos. Siempre tendrán un lugar especial en mi corazón. Todavía sigo todos los partidos y hablo con muchos de los jugadores que juegan hoy por hoy.)

E: To finish... What has always been your dream? Playing in Penya for me is the highest there is, but would you have liked an NBA experience?

D: My dream was to always be succesful basketball player on and off the court. I always wanted to play in the NBA but it didn´t work out and that was ok for me. I was excited to play many years in the EuroLeague which is the second best league after the NBA. I´ve accomplished everything in my career but win a EuroLeague final 4 I reach the final 8 with Maccabi Tel Aviv. I thank God for having a great career and being able to play for one of the best clubs in Europe, in Joventut. Thank you La Penya for being a part of my life FOREVER. Siempre verdinegro.

(E: Para terminar ... ¿Cuál ha sido siempre tu sueño? Jugar en la Penya para mí es lo más alto que hay, pero ¿te hubiera gustado una experiencia en la NBA?

D: Mi sueño era ser siempre un jugador exitoso de baloncesto dentro y fuera de la cancha. Siempre quise jugar en la NBA, pero no funcionó y eso estuvo bien para mí. Estaba emocionado de jugar muchos años en la Euroliga, que es la segunda mejor liga después de la NBA. He logrado todo en mi carrera, menos ganar una final-four de la EuroLiga. Llegué al final-8 con Maccabi Tel Aviv, eso sí. Agradezco a Dios por tener una gran carrera y poder jugar en uno de los mejores clubes de Europa, en el Joventut. Gracias a La Penya por ser parte de mi vida PARA SIEMPRE. Siempre verdinegro.)

E: If you were a genius on the courts, you don´t know how big you are outsie them. You are an example to follow, both basketballically and personally. (E: Si eras un genio en las canchas, no sabes lo grande que eres fuera de ellas. Eres un ejemplo a seguir, tanto en lo personal como en el baloncesto.
